I am soooo ready to start a new year..The end of 2009 was a very difficult one for me and my family. Losing my father to pancreatic cancer in December was one of the most difficult experiences I have had to endure. While I knew mid-summer that his health was starting to decline, I never would have guessed he would be taken from us by year’s end. I am though, incredibly thankful that he did not suffer, and that I was able to say “goodbye” to him before he passed. I love you dad, and I plan to run my next marathon in his honor.
On a lighter note….While my training had come to a near halt by the end of December, I did manage to brave the rain and cold and (night!) and run the Fairfax 4 miler on NYE. I had so much fun, and was quite suprised that I finished 27th (female)out of 567 women! The best part of the race was the cool Addidas sweatshirt. 🙂
Right now, I am doing a large part of my training indoors- thank you Lifetime Fitness! I’m also counting down to the Suntrust National Half Marathon in Washington D.C. on March 20th. Looking foward to setting a PR! I am also very excited to be a part of the Brooks I.D. Running Team for 2010. These folks are such an inspiration and truly are amazing individuals!
After the National Half, I am signed up for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler- I was lucky enough to have my name chosen by lottery for this very popular spring race. I’m still not sure which Marathon I will be running this fall, however, I have entered my name in the lottery for the ING New York City Marathon. The drawing will be sometime in March. Keep your fingers crossed!!!
