First of all, let me say a big “Happy New Year” to you, and (since I haven’t blogged in almost a month), I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. It’s been a roller coaster ride here at my house, hence, the lack of my blogging.
Ever since doing my first marathon back in 2009, Marine Corps Marathon, I have had one big race on my mind. However, after MCM, I really wanted to BQ, and ultimately run the Boston Marathon. So, in 2010, I BQ’d at Steamtown Marathon in Scranton, PA., and was fortunate enough to register for the 2011 Boston Marathon (keep in mind, it sold out in a matter of hours). Although, my luck turned upside down and I ended up getting injured six weeks prior to Boston, I still managed to finish and bring home a medal.
This year, I fully decided that I wanted my target race to be a fall one. I know myself, and, that I will be much better trained for October/November. I had one “little race” in mind, you may have heard of it…..
The 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon
Since many hotels near the start are already booked. Other hotels that are more than 1 mile away from the start/finish are really expensive, I decided to stick with Marathon Tours for booking my hotel reservation.
The race registration doesn’t open until February 1st., so I’ll have to wait until then to really feel like my dream is going to come true. 🙂
As for the rest of the year, I have a local spring marathon I’m currently training for, and, of course, other shorter distance races throughout the year. I’m really hoping for consistency this year, and not the on again- off again running like I did in 2011.
What are your 2012 running goals? Key 2012 races?
